I recently was turned on to text-based games, and I am enjoying them lots. I guess they are more dedicated for hardcore and old school role-players. I recently found Gemstone IV, and love it, but hate to pay for play.

First way, you write up a story of what your character goes through to get the quest item and then returns for your reward.

Second way, we roleplay each step of the way. I give you dangers that you must get out of and continue along til the end. My oldest character from 1st edition is a Mage. Her name is Siri the Sorceress and she is 8th level just about to go to 9th. Well she was ninth at one time but got killed by a vampire so.... long story
